Choice Possession

I've taken a different angle on how I read the Bible. I am reading one chunk of scripture and chewing on it all week. I am currently in James and haven't made it out of the first chapter yet. This chapter is really challenging me, opening my eyes up to a God who desires me to be well equipped and how much I really matter to him that He would give me instruction.

Each week, I find myself looking for ways God's words would be revealed to me. And every week I am never let down. Each chunk of scripture comes alive at some point in the week. I don't think its coincidence. I think I'm just looking for opportunities--not just completing some menial task or trying to find goodness through work.

I challenge you to try it with me. I'd love to hear about it. The passage I read this week was:

James 1:17-18
17Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven's lights. Unlike them, he never changes or casts shifting shadows. 18In his goodness he chose to make us his own children by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his choice possession.

My eyes got stuck on the bolded phrase. You and I are the apple of His eye. Let that soak in for awhile.

Next week--my new chunk is James 1:20. I'll post next week on how I look for ways for God to reveal Himself to me through His words...I really want to hear how your week went!!
